press release

The first D.A.R.E. Symposium will be held at the Centraal Museum on 6 September 2006.

The symposium looks at critical methodologies in the fields of art and design, focusing on research-based practices. While research has become a well-recognized method within art and design, the proliferation of these approaches has lead to a point at which distinctions can be made between critical practices, and those that are limited to the mediation of information. D.A.R.E. #1 seeks to profile some of todays more complex positions, highlighting experimental and analytical modes of inquiry that connect the fields of art and design to broader social and political arenas. Speakers:

Introductions Pauline Terreehorst, Henk Slager

Design Martin Beck, Esther Cleven, Daniel van der Velden Discussion moderated by: Emily King

Art Stephan Dillemuth, Dave Hullfish Bailey, Florian Pumhösl, Wendelien van Oldenborgh
