From sensitive superheroes to mood medications like Prozac, the concept and culture of emotion has become a visible facet of contemporary life. Getting Emotional presents the work of a diverse selection of international artists for whom emotion is an important subject. The exhibition charts the increased attention paid to emotion by art over the past fifteen years, while also including work from the 1960 to the 1980s that anticipates this exploration. From the emotionally charged to the conceptually cool, the exhibition approaches the theme in video, photography, painting, and sculpture.
