press release

In Focus: Themes in Photography will examine the Gallery’s extensive collection of photographs through a thematic lens. Combining nineteenth-century historic works with recent acquisitions of contemporary photography, this exhibition highlights the Gallery’s commitment to the photographic medium for more than nine decades, which began in 1910 with an exhibition of work by Alfred Stieglitz. The Gallery has continued to expand its photographic holdings to include major works by Uta Barth, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Sophie Calle, John Coplans, Gregory Crewdson, Willie Doherty, Olafur Eliasson, Andreas Gursky, Sharon Lockhart, Shirin Neshat, Catherine Opie, and many other artists featured in this exhibition.
