press release

The first large-scale exhibition in Ireland by Louise Bourgeois, one of the greatest artists of our time, comprises some 20 works and focuses mainly on her soft sculptures and related drawings. The soft sculptures, 'Cells', are a more recent development in Bourgeois? work and represent a reinterpreting of her famous bronze sculptures. Also shown in the exhibition is a selection of the artist?s drawings, including one of her first major series of etchings and poems, in which she unfolds a tale of loss and loneliness. Bourgeois has received wide critical acclaim for her work, exhibiting in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Tate Modern and in the 1993 Venice Biennale.

The exhibition is selected by Frances Morris, Senior Curator, Tate Modern, and co-curated by her and Brenda McParland, Head of Exhibitions, IMMA. The exhibition is presented in association with THE IRISH TIMES with support from the French Embassy. Pressetext
