press release

Concepts like autonomy, independence, insecurity, desire, transparency and opacity are becoming increasingly important, in terms of the scope that remains, as institutions become increasingly privatized and centralized. What demands do artists make on institutions? And how does an institution work when it is faced with expectations from sponsors, politicians and various public bodies, but has first and foremost to create the best possible production conditions for artists? Discussions are being held in a series of workshops in co-operation with various institutions, including Index in Stockholm, NIFCA in Helsinki, UKS (Young Artists Society) in Oslo, and now with the Secession in Vienna about how art institutions can be used and challenged today.

*Participants: Mike Bode, Josef Dabernig, Kajsa Dahlberg, Markus Degerman, Carola Dertnig, Stephan Dillemuth, Gardar Eide Einarsson, Rike Frank, Matthias Herrmann, Trude Iversen, Nina Möntmann, Boris Ondreicka, Gerald Raunig, Oeyvind Renberg, Oliver Ressler, Staffan Schmidt, Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen, Miho Shimizu, Sofie Thorsen
