In recent years, numerous artists have published fragmentary novellas, film scripts, plays for theatre and radio and conceptual texts. Writing texts and working on them are both activities understood as an independent process, as a specific form of artistic activity and as a possibility for expressing your thinking in the public sphere. Influenced by contemporary theory, historical models or socio-political changes, the artistic texts become source-codes for various forms of presentation. Language, words and writing themselves become material, as communicative, visual of phonetic elements for creativity.

Against this background, the exhibition, »Scripts«, focuses on writing as a basis for artistic production, authoring your own texts just as much as adapting and appropriating already existing materials. Transforming these scripts into various media or visual forms thus takes centre stage. The international group-exhibition collects together films, sounds, sculptures, large-scale prints and installations with a wide variety of topics but sharing an origin in writing.

To mark the exhibition, a 32-page brochure will be published (German/English) with texts by Thomas Thiel and Judith Heßler (ISBN 978-3-941735-45-3).
