press release

The difference between you and me examines how contemporary international artists from several generations employ new and open styles, techniques and attitudes in their pictorial representations of themselves and others. Artists include Lothar Hempel (Germany), Li Jin (China), Motohiko Odani (Japan), Aïda Ruilova (United States) and Australian artists Richard Larter, Moya McKenna, Tracey Moffatt, David Noonan and Tim McMonagle. These artists' distinctive figurative practices—including film, video, painting and drawing—communicate by activating empathic and emotional recognitions and feelings in the viewer. An exhibition catalogue including new writing accompanied the exhibition.
