Following the successful exhibition on Action Painting, a new exhibition of modern art jointly organized by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice will be held at the Foro Boario, Modena. This exhibition will examine the same historical and artistic period that was the backdrop for the American Action Painting movement, 1945-1970, but it does so from a European standpoint. Jean Dubuffet will serve as the exhibition’s focal point around which will revolve the aoutstanding works of significant representatives of the movement, from Antoni Tàpies to Yves Klein, Pierre Soulages, and the CoBra group, together with the material signs of gesture painting and the Art Informel painters. Also represented are the Italian artists considered to represent the Informel in American collections, such as Lucio Fontana, Alberto Butters, Gastone Novels, Piero Manzoni, Emilio Vedova, Toti Scialoja, Tancredi and others
