CCA'S International Collection of Contemporary Art continues to be a steadfast result of observation, documentation, analysis, discussion and contemporary art exhibition processes ongoing at CCA.
During the Centre's 20 years of systematic activity, it has attempted to steadfastly capture significant qualities of the changes wrought in contemporary art. References to the inspiration sources for Polish contemporary art at the end of the 60s and beginning of the 70s remain extremely important - and these were determined by the experiences of constructivism and conceptualism. The number and level of acclaimed world artists included in CCA's collection stands out when compared to most gallery collections in Poland. Marquee names such as Christian Boltanski, Joseph Kosuth and Ilya Kabakov, Dennis Oppenheim, Jenny Holzer, Nan Goldin, and Michelangelo Pistoletto provide an interesting point of reference for Polish artists.
Works of over 90 artists (over 30 from abroad) using all forms of expression (painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, installations, video, recordings of art happenings and public projects) will be exhibited as part of the 5th edition of CCA's International Art Collection. Beginning in the 1960s, the list of successive generations of Polish artists will end with manifestations of artists from a generation debuting in the 21st century.
