press release
Not for Sale presents unavailable works by the art market’s most sought-after talents. These are all artworks that the artists refuse to sell, reserved for themselves. Like de Kooning who delayed shipping off his paintings because he found new inspiration in his finished canvases or Rauschenberg who bought back an early painting for one million dollars, some things are simply Not for Sale. Artists participating include: John Baldessari, Jennifer Bartlett, Lynda Benglis, Janet Cardiff, Christo, Alex Katz, Christopher Knowles, Maya Lin, Dennis Oppenheim, Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, and Mark di Suvero. Organized by P.S.1 Director Alanna Heiss.
