Christopher Wool (b. 1955, Boston, Massachusetts) grew up in Chicago and lives in New York City. In 1992 he participated at documenta 9 in Kassel. He is is best known for his large format 'Word Paintings'. In his current work, he spontaneously paints linear forms on the painting surface with a spray gun, which he then wipes out in a multi-layer process with a solvent-soaked cloth.
