The Museum of Modern Art was founded in 1929. In 1939 the museum opens at 11 West 53 Street location, International Style building, designed by Philip L. Goodwin and Edward Durell Stone. Until today the museum was extended several times by other parts of the building and the Sculpture Garden, that were designed by Philip Johnson, Cesar Pelli & Associates and Yoshio Taniguchi. The Museum’s collection contains almost 200,000 works from around the world spanning the last 150 years. The collection includes an ever-expanding range of visual expression, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, photography, architecture, design, film, and media and performance art.
