Walid Raad (Walid Ra´ad, b. 1967, Chbanieh / Lebanon) is the founder of the Atlas Group, a fifteen year project between 1989 and 2004 about the contemporary history of Lebanon. His works were shown at documenta 11 and 13 in Kassel, at the Venice Biennale, at the Whitney Biennale 2000 and 2002, as well as at the Biennials of São Paulo and Istanbul. He studied Cultural and Visual Studies at the University of Rochester, and Fine Arts (Photography) at the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a professor at the The Cooper Union, New York.
