Tate Modern
In 1995 Swiss architects Herzog & De Meuron began to convert the former Bankside Power Station (designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott) into a separate gallery for international modern and contemporary art in London. It opened in May 2000.


Tate holds the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day and international modern and contemporary art.
