Claes Oldenburg (b. 1929, Stockholm; d. 2022) was a sculptor living in New York. He is one of the most famous artists of Pop Art and developed objects, soft sculptures and monumental public installations, so-called 'Giant Objects', representing everyday objects. He participated in documenta 5, 6 and 7 in Kassel. Since 1976 he collaborated with Coosje van Bruggen. Claes Oldenburg studied literature and art history at Yale University and art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
